Emilio

My name is Emilio Fernández. I was born in Gijón 38 years ago. When I was 2, my parents emigrated to Australia where we lived foro ver 11 years. On our way back, passing the Pajares, I saw, for the first time, my paradise, Asturias.

When I was 17, I met Machús and we started vsiting these mountains together. My restless nature has led me to practice many Sports such as cricket, rugby, scuba diving, karate, climbing, cycling, trekking and my curiosity nad adventurous spirit has guided me through Spain, other countries in Europe, Marrocco, Chile, India and Nepal.

In 2005, when flying at 20,000 feet ando n our way back from India, Machús Lockheed out of the Windows and said something that stick in my brain: "That is something that I would really like to know at ground level". Once back in Spain I discovered that the landscape we had seen corresponded to ther territory known as the Silk Route.

In Nepal, we dicovered Budhism and in Spain I was able to deepen my knowlwedge. This is how I came in contact with books by Mattiey Ricard and his foundation Karuna.

I consider myself to be priviledged because I am able to live where I am living and to have good Elath which allows me to do the activities I like doing. This is whay I would like to help those who are not as fortunate as I am living in Asia.
